Our Story

The Company was founded in 1968 by Mr A.J. (Peter) Swane in the small Macquarie Valley town of Warren, commencing business as a Machinery Dealer with little more than energy and vision. Peter Swane expanded the Company to Dubbo and opened for business there on 1st July 1970, also selling and servicing the area with farm equipment and rural products, as well as sourcing and selling second hand Trucks. During this time, Peter Swane built a strong reputation for first class service to customers in the area. Dubbo quickly became Head Office, and remains so today.

Dubbo's location at the crossroads of the Mitchell, Newell & Golden Highways, and the Company's focus on customer service brought the business to the attention of Kenworth who were then seeking a productive dealer to provide sales and service on the Newell Highway.

Peter Swane Machinery were appointed Kenworth dealers in November 1975. From that time on Trucks became the central focus of the business to the extent that all Machinery ties were severed in the early 80's and the Dealership in Dubbo moving to a pure transport focus.

Always active in support of the Transport Industry, Swane's Truck Centre were founding members of the Australian Road Train Association, and continue as active supporters of this member body of the Australian Trucking Association.

The Company has had several other Truck franchises over the years; however in 1993 Cliff Swane became Managing Director and has since guided the company forward with a strong dedication to Paccar Products, Kenworth, DAF and Cummins.

Expansion into the Riverina of NSW saw Swane's Truck Centre purchase Riverina Truck Centre at Wagga Wagga and Rivken Truck & Trailer Parts at Griffith in 2001, consolidating the Company's presence in Inland New South Wales. A singular focus on PACCAR Products, a lifetime understanding of Inland and Regional Australian needs and our strong Customer Service focus was the backbone for this expansion in 2001, which also heralded a Company name change, to "Inland Truck Centres Pty Ltd" better reflecting the driving core of the Company.

In 2005 the Company purchased a 41,000m2 site on the Newell Highway in Dubbo. The upgrade and expansion of this modern facility includes Road Train access and parking, drive through and `B' Double bays with state-of-the-art servicing facilities, expanded Parts showroom and motel style drivers accommodation.
